2013 Members Training

This year the Clubs Training Team has developed a number of new training courses designed specifically for you. As a Sailing Member many of these courses are subsidised by the club. They include:

Youth Sailing ( Dinghy )

Friday evenings – 6:30pm to 9:00pm, starting on Friday 1st June through to 24th August

Youth Sailing Academy – first coaching day Saturday 23rd March and 6th April 2013

The Youth Academy is a new opportunity for the youngsters in the Club to further develop their racing skills. The academy is open to all up to and including 16 year olds. The academy is being managed by Des Luxton who is being supported by Danny Ramsbottom – Senior Youth Coach. A team of coaching staff have volunteered to assist with the coaching together with support from the RYA National Race Coaching Team and the Volvo Champion national race squad. Watch Club notices and marketing for further information.

Youth Race Squad - Saturday 23rd March and 6th April 2013

The Race Squad will be the “ Top Gun “ school for the best 6 youth racers we have in the Club. They will have access to a range of dinghies, specialised coaching, National Squad race sessions. The Youth Race Squad will be our attempt to very seriously get a Burton Sailor into the British Olympic Squad.

For more information contact Keith, Des or Brett.

Pink Sailing -Ladies Only – April 26th at 18:30hrs

This course is open to partners of Members, social members & Club members

The sessions will run for 10 weeks on Thursday evenings (18:30pm to 9:00pm) starting on Thursday 26th April.

Mother and Toddler Group ( or Father and Toddler Group )

Now this really is a new idea, based on the idea that there are many parents out there who would love to have one or more sessions specifically designed for you and your toddler. Well this could be the one. Currently we have many exciting ideas, morning group mid-week, with coffee, cake, a bit if exercise and a lot of play with the little ones in the Optimists. In all seriousness this small but important group of people are considered to be the up and coming Youth Academy and Race Squad members.
