Burton Sailing Club invites you and your family to come to try sailing for FREE at the club’s Sail for Gold Open Day on Monday 7 May!
This fun-filled Open Day at this family friendly club on Foremark Reservoir in South Derbyshire runs from 11am until 4pm and is guaranteed to offer something for everyone.
Whether getting your first taste of sailing under the watchful eye of Royal Yachting Association (RYA) instructors or simply sampling the social side of what life at Burton SC has to offer, the Sail for Gold Open Day doors are open to welcome everyone regardless of age, gender or experience. Just bring a change of clothes, soft-soled shoes and waterproofs and the club will supply everything else you need! Burton SC is a recognised RYA Training Centre, meaning it conforms to the highest standards of quality and safety in the world.
Burton SC are enthusiastic participants in the RYA’s nationwide London 2012 initiative, Sail for Gold, celebrating Britain's unmatched Olympic sailing heritage and inspiring more people to get out on the water more regularly. Throughout the year, the club will be running special events under the Sail for Gold banner to bring the buzz of the Olympics as close as home to possible for everyone, wherever they live.
As well as getting the chance to get afloat, you will be able to see a display of the different boats typically sailed at Burton SC, used for introducing the complete novice to sailing through to boats raced and sailed for pleasure on the club's waters. There will also be refreshments available from the club's bar and barbecue.
